Our Mission:

Building on a rich history of innovation and multicultural programming, Soundscape is reaching out to a new generation. Soundscape Arts Education provides educational programs, teacher training and curriculum materials that serve three fundamental goals:

1. Increase multicultural awareness and understanding.

Soundscape’s programs encourage students to share their own cultural heritage, and to explore the sounds, colors and rhythms of cultures throughout the world.

2. Teach standards-based academic skills through creative arts projects.

Whether discovering the formula for the area of a trapezoid through constructing a South American Pan Flute, or learning global history through listening to world music, Soundscape’s programs make learning fun and meaningful while equipping students with important academic skills.

3. Inspire students and teachers to develop and use their own creative voice.

Soundscape’s experienced staff of Teaching Artists inject a fresh perspective, new voice and dynamic energy into the classroom. Our staff works in partnership with teachers, building upon the strengths and interests of every member of the classroom community. By the end of our programs teachers and students alike will have tried something new, explored a subject in depth, and created something of personal value.
